Mix media

Mixed media is a fascinating and dynamic type of visual art that skillfully combines more than one medium or material to create a cohesive and engaging work. This artistic approach allows for an expansive range of creative expression, as artists can blend traditional techniques with modern innovations, incorporating elements such as paint, photography, collage, textiles, and found objects. In my own artistic practice, I often explore this concept by connecting two or more images in a single piece, creating a dialogue between them that invites viewers to engage more deeply with the artwork. What I find particularly intriguing is the way in which certain elements from the images seem to transcend the confines of the photographic frame, becoming tangible and almost animated as they reach out to interact with the adjacent picture. This interplay not only enhances the visual narrative but also encourages the audience to contemplate the relationship between the images and the stories they tell.

Most of my mixed media works are typically composed of a set of two or more photographs, carefully curated to complement and contrast with one another. Each piece is crafted with a limited edition in mind, which adds an element of exclusivity and allure to the artwork. This limited edition approach means that each item is assigned a unique serial number on the back, such as (ex: 3/200), signifying that there will be no more than 200 prints produced. This practice not only enhances the value of each art piece but also fosters a sense of ownership and connection for the collector. By knowing that they possess a finite representation of my work, collectors can appreciate the rarity and significance of their purchase. Furthermore, this limitation encourages a deeper appreciation for the artistic process and the thought that goes into each creation, as each piece is not merely a reproduction but a carefully considered work of art that embodies the spirit of mixed media.
